A Taste of Africa

Last Monday the Junior School enjoyed watching the Out of Africa show. Room 5 have written Recounts about this experience. We have tried to include some WoW! words to get a picture in the reader's head. Here are some of our recounts...

Out of Africa

Yesterday after morning tea, the Year One and Twos went to the Out of Africa show in the hall. Valanga, an African, performed some music and stories.
First of all he played a little wooden box with strings that made a beautiful sound like a bell.
Then he played a metal instrument that made a buzzing noise. He put it next to his mouth and plucked the needle on it. Once, he put it in his back pocket and sat on it and everyone thought it was part of the show and one of them said, "Do it again bravo!"
Then he played a curved stick with a string on it that he wanted to hit with a feather but wasn't allowed, so he used a twig.
Valanga played amazingly. I hope he comes back next year.

Out of Africa

On Monday after morning tea, we went to a show. It was so funny when the man washed a drum, because it sounded like someone was farting.
At the middle he played a drum and it was very loud when he picked some kids and they whacked the drum. When they whacked the drum, his eyes went wide. It was so funny.
At the end, he sang a song with Mrs Ryan with a homemade instrument. It was amazing. I hope Valanga comes back next year.

The Africa Show

Yesterday the Year 1s and 2s went to the hall to watch a show. Valanga showed us how to play instruments. He played a drum. This is how he played it, he used a tissue to make a fart sound.
I liked it when he played the instrument where he used his mouth and a stick.
Valanga made a guitar out of a container.
I loved the show. It was amazing and loud.

The African Show

Yesterday after morning tea, the Year 1s and 2s went to the hall to the Out of Africa show.
Valanga used his fingernails to play a little wooden box with strings. It sounded like a bird tweeting.
He used an instrument, it was called the duck. It sounded like a fart.
Valanga is a great performer. I wish he will come back next year.

Out of Africa

All of the Year 2s and 1s went to Out of Africa, it was awesome. I liked it when he put the cloth into the drum and it farted. Everyone was laughing. I found it funny too.
He told us a story about a girl who was going to the river and heard a voice, so she went there and found a lion. The children clapped.
