Statistics

Room 5 read the big book, "Number 10 Tāwai Crescent". Then we did some Statistics to find out more about our own addresses and the people who live at our homes. We also drew our own fabulous letterboxes and wrote our home letterbox numbers on them. After Mrs Saker had photocopied the letterboxes, we spent time with a buddy finding many different ways to sort them into matching groups. We then turned our favourite way to sort them into a pictograph and talked about what we found. You can see our letterbox art and pictographs up on the wall in Room 5. Here are some photos of us sorting our letterboxes:

Maths Fun

We are learning to use our fingers and tens frames to help us to get pictures in our heads of the numbers from 0 - 10. We are learning to play lots of tens frames games to help us get faster at recognising the number patterns.
This will help us to quickly work out addition and subtraction problems by helping us understand the different ways we can make a number.
